Greece Will Present Reforms List By Monday, Government Spokesman Says

Athens (Alliance News) – Greece will present a list of economic reforms to its eurozone partners by Monday, a government spokesman said on Tuesday.

“We will present the reforms at the latest by Monday,” Gabriel Sakellaridis told private Mega television.

The proposed reforms will not include measures that hamper growth, Sakellaridis said, adding that the measures will be structural.

There was no apparent sign of a breakthrough on the reforms that Greece must present to secure the release of bailout funds after a meeting on Monday in Berlin between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Government sources said Monday the proposals could include raising the retirement age and tourism taxes. The government also wants to crack down on money laundering and tax evasion.

Tsipras’ first visit to Berlin as Greek prime minister comes at a time of concern that Greece could run out of cash and be forced to exit the eurozone.

Tsipras ends his visit on Tuesday with talks with leaders of Germany’s two opposition parties – the hard-left Die Linke and the Greens.

Tsipras swept to power two months ago vowing to renegotiate Greece’s bailout terms in order to ease the burden of austerity imposed by creditors.
