Turkish journalist released after going missing for five days in Syria

(HurriyetDailyNews) – - > American TV station NBC’s Turkish correspondent Aziz Akyavas has been released after going missing in Syria last week, daily Hurriyet reported today. it is thought that he was being held by the Syrian authorities.

Akyavas is currently waiting at the Cilvegozu border gate, reports said.

Akyavas was reporting from Syria along with NBC Middle East bureau chief Richard Engel when he went missing in Syria on Dec. 13.

Engel was also freed after a firefight between his captors and Syrian rebels, his employer NBC News said today, according to AFP.
