Tunisian museum attack suspect arrested near Milan

Italian anti-terrorism police arrested on Wednesday, a man suspected of participating in the Bardo museum attack in Tunisia where 22 people, mostly tourists, were killed by gunmen.

A 22-year-old Moroccan man was arrested in the town of Gaggiano, about 10 miles from Milan. It is not clear what his alleged involvement was in the attack on the Bardo National Museum in Tunis on March 18.

A Tunisian security guard and 21 tourists from Japan, France, Poland, Spain, Colombia and Britain were killed in the attack. The Islamic State has previously taken credit.

Two gunmen, identified as Yassine Laabidi and Hatem Khachnaoui, were killed by security forces when the attack took place.

Tens of thousands of Tunisians took to the streets to protest Islamist extremism days after the attack. Under the slogan “Le Monde est Bardo [The World is Bardo],” the demonstrators marched to the Bardo National Museum, chanting “Tunisia is free! Terrorism out!”

French President Francois Hollande and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi were among leaders from Palestine, Poland, Belgium, Libya and Algeria who attended a ceremony in which a stone tablet was dedicated to the memory of the victims.
